Mike McLachlan was locked in a tight and important race with State Representative J. Paul Brown. Colorado Conservation Voters Independent Expenditure Committee tapped RBI to craft a targeted, hard-hitting 2-piece plan to highlight J. Paul Brown’s frightening record on conservation issues. Thanks to the targeted, hard-hitting messaging of the mail plan, McLachlan defeated J. Paul Brown with 50.9% of the vote.

Polling leading up to Election Day showed incumbent Colorado State Representative J. Paul Brown and his challenger, Mike McLachlan, were locked in a tight race that was seen as integral for both parties. Colorado Conservation Voters Independent Expenditure Committee tapped RBI to craft a targeted, hard-hitting 2-piece plan to highlight J. Paul Brown’s frightening record on conservation issues, which earned him a spot on the list of 12 worst legislators in the nation when it came to conservation issues. Despite being outspent by groups supporting the incumbent, the targeted mailings, along with a strong social media campaign, helped push the challenger over the top. He ultimately won with just 50.9% of the vote.
