We are pleased to announce that we have been selected as a finalist for three 2018 Reed Awards. The annual Reed Awards, named after Campaigns & Elections founder Stanley Foster Reed, are considered one of the most prestigious honors in political campaigning, management, consulting and design.
This year, RBI’s finalists highlight the firm’s diversity of services, with entries spanning radio, direct mail, and newspaper advertising for local and statewide clients. All three of RBI’s entries were named a finalist in their respective categories. They include:
- Best Radio Ad For Independent Expenditure, Ballot Initiative, or Public Affairs/Issue Advocacy Campaign for Ernie the Engineer, a spot produced for the City of Colorado Springs’ Ballot Issue 2, a storm water infrastructure initiative that would keep $12 million of excess tax revenue set to be returned to the taxpayers via the state’s Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR). The yes campaign won 66% of the vote.
- Best Mail Piece For Ballot Initiative for Ernie the Engineer, from the same Colorado Springs Ballot Issue 2 campaign mentioned above.
- Best Newspaper Ad for Public Affairs or Issue Advocacy Campaign for A Message to Outdoor Retailers from Colorado, an ad campaign by Conservation Colorado to pressure the Outdoor Retailer Show to leave Utah over its elected officials’ criticism of and harmful actions against public lands and make its new home in Colorado. The campaign was ultimately successful.
This year’s Reed Awards conference will be February 26-27 in Charleston, SC, where the winners in each category will be announced.
